Why Asheville? “It’s just such a good school. It has a very unique approach to education. I’m a very linguistic person and that approach just fits me.”

Notable: Cameron was struck by the unified nature of UNC Asheville’s cross country team on her official visit and the fact that every member of the team was involved in her recruitment. … She was the fastest runner in her second grade class. “I just blew everyone away and that was very cool,” Cameron said. … Her dad, William, ran collegiately at the Unversity of Kansas. … She has run almost every event there is in track for Corinth Holders, but specializes in the 800 because of her strong kick. She is a member of the Pirates’ 3,200 relay team, which finished seventh in the state at the indoor championships last year. … “I need to work on my mentality,” she said. “I want to improve my strategy in races.” … Cameron is a seven-time All-Conference selection and has a half-dozen conference titles to her credit. As a junior, she won the Two Rivers 3A Conference cross country title…. Cameron wants to go into teaching.

Corinth Holders coach Peter Clark: “Cameron has been one of the best runners in our program’s history. She works incredibly hard to succeed in many events. She is set to have a record-breaking senior year.”
