The Durham Latino Fiesta & Soccer Challenge has been rescheduled to the rain date of Saturday, Oct. 8, due to muddy field conditions.
The event, which had been scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24, is free and will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Rock Quarry Park at 701 Stadium Drive.
The event will celebrate National Hispanic Heritage month. Remedios Gómez Arnau, consulate general of Mexico in Raleigh, North Carolina will officially kick-off the festivities with greetings and opening remarks.
Throughout the day, participants will enjoy a series of soccer games as 12 teams vie to become the Latino Festival and Soccer Challenge Champions. The players are ages 6-12. Members of the Duke men’s soccer team will be there to watch the game, greet participants and sign autographs.
Participants will also enjoy music, taste authentic foods, and learn about the health, education and service resources available in Durham and the surrounding area. Children can participate in hands-on activities and create traditional Latin crafts.
