The body of a Durham fisherman was located in Little River Lake late Tuesday morning more than two days after the canoe he was in capsized.
Deputies with the Durham County Sheriff Office’s Search and Recovery Team found the body of Carnell Bell, 55, in about 60 feet of water.
Bell and another man were fishing in the lake off Orange Factory Road when the canoe capsized around 9:30 a.m. Sunday. The other man was rescued by a nearby boater. Neither man in the canoe was wearing a life jacket.
The Durham Police Department worked with the Durham County Sheriff’s Office, the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission and the Bahama Volunteer Fire Department.
