Meeting on affordable housing

AIGA Town Square

District 4 Commander’s Tour

Residents will meet police commanders and officers in the Durham Police Department’s 2014 District 4 Commander’s Tour from 3:30-5 p.m. at the playground on Hidden Springs Drive off of Ellis Road.

Nar-Anon

Nar-Anon, a 12-step program for relatives and friends of addicts, will meet from 7-8 p.m. at Immanuel Temple Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2102 S. Alston Ave. 919-383-4236, nar-anon.org.

Durham Farmers’ Market

The Durham Farmers’ Market will be open from 8 a.m. to noon at 501 Foster St. durhamfarmersmarket.com.

The Durham Area Transit Authority provides a free shuttle from Durham Station to the farmers’ market every 15 minutes from 7:45-11:45 a.m. Saturdays through Aug. 23. The station is at 515 W. Pettigrew St.

South Durham Farmers’ Market

The South Durham Farmers’ Market will be open from 8 a.m. to noon in the Greenwood Commons Shopping Center at 5410 N.C. Highway 55.

Story time

“Cars and Trucks and Things That Go” by Richard Scarry will be read to kids at 10 a.m. at Barnes & Noble, 5400 New Hope Commons.

Durham Chess Club
