Writing Wrongs

Vivian Connell, a teacher at Phoenix Academy High School, is raising money to bring the school to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum at the end of May in Washington, D.C. Connell and museum officials are raising money to meet their goal of $20,000 for transportation, lodging and food. ncfpsc.org/writing-wrongs.

Horton High School Alumni Association scholarships

The Horton High School Alumni Association offers scholarships to descendants of Horton High School alumni and attendees who are in high school, college, university or graduate school during the 2014-2015 academic year. 919-444-9090, hhsaa.info.

Wine tasting fundraiser

The Dispute Settlement Center’s eighth annual wine tasting fundraiser will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at Southern Season in University Mall, 201 S. Estes Drive, Chapel Hill. The event will raise money for the center’s youth programs. There will be a raffle and silent auction. Tickets cost $35 in advance and $40 at the door. disputesettlement.org.

Yoga For Your Rights

Woods Charter School’s Girls Learn International service club will host the Yoga For Your Rights class and fundraiser from 4-5 p.m. Friday, April 25, in the school gym at 160 Woodland Grove Lane, Chapel Hill. The suggested donation is $10. 919-960-8353.

Art for Hope

Josh’s Hope Foundation will raise money for programs to help young adults with mental illness with the Second Annual Art for Hope gala from 5:30-8 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at Josh’s Hope, 200-B Cardinal Drive, Hillsborough. Tickets cost $25. joshshopefoundation.org.

Durham Nativity School benefit

Durham Nativity School will host a benefit honoring Dan Hill from 7-10 p.m. Friday, April 25, at Hope Valley Country Club, 3803 Dover Road, Durham. Tickets cost $100. durhamnativity.org.

Bake sale

Bowbarr will host a vegan bake sale to raise money for Farmer Foodshare and celebrate Earth Day from Saturday, April 26, through Sunday, May 4, at 705 W. Rosemary St., Carrboro. Walk Now for Autism Speaks

Walk Now for Autism Speaks will begin with registration at 8:30 a.m. and the walk at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at Duke University. The walk will raise money for Autism Speaks. Registration is free. walknowforautismspeaks.org.

Art raffle

The North Carolina Preservation Consortium art raffle fundraiser during National Collections Preservation Week will be from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at the Hilton Garden Inn Durham Southpoint Hotel, 7007 Fayetteville Road, Durham. The raffle will raise money for the North Carolian Preservation Consortium’s preservation grant program. Tickets cost $10 with discounts for multiple tickets. ncpreservation.org/raffle.

Empty Bowls

CORA Food Pantry’s Empty Bowls fundraiser will be from 5:30-9:30 p.m. Sunday, April 27, in the Chatham Mills Conference Center, 480 Hillsborough St. Tickets cost $30 in advance. corafoodpantry.org.

Dine4Autism

Restaurants throughout the Triangle will donate a percentage of their sales to local chapters of the Autism Society of N.C. on Tuesday, April 29. wakecountyautismsociety.org/dine4autism.

Submit requests for charitable grants to Strowd Roses by Wednesday, April 30. strowdroses.org.

Freedom Fund and Scholarship Banquet

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Freedom Fund and Scholarship Banquet will be at 6 p.m. Friday, May 2, at the William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education, 100 Friday Center Drive, Chapel Hill. Color the Hill

Spring Garden Party and Auction

The Historic Hillsborough Commission at the Burwell School Historic Site will host the 13th Annual Spring Garden Party and Auction from 6-9:30 p.m. Friday, May 9, 319 N. Churton St., Hillsborough. Triangle Walk to Cure Arthritis

Guardians of the Hill 5K

The Chapel Hill Police Department will sponsor the annual Guardians of the Hill 5K at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at Southern Community Park, 1000 Dogwood Acres Drive, Chapel Hill. The 5K and Kid’s Fun Run will raise money for the N.C. Children’s Hospital. Registration costs $20 through Wednesday, April 30, and $25 after that. Kid’s Fun Run registration is $10. chpd.us.
