Landlord training workshop

Noir at the Bar

Blue Devils Toastmasters

The Blue Devils Toastmasters Club meets from noon to 1 p.m. the first and third Friday of every month in Room 203 of the Duke Human Resources Building, 705 Broad St. The club focuses on improving public speaking, communication and leadership skills.

Ending Hunger in Durham: Understanding the Problem

Durham Chess Club

Kitten Shower Adoption Weekend

Independent Animal Rescue’s Kitten Shower Adoption Weekend is from 2-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Petco at South Square, 4011 Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd. The rescue’s newest foster kittens will be available for adoption. animalrescue.net.

The rescue is also accepting donations of cat and dog food, metal collapsible dog crates and clumping cat litter. Drop off donations in the Petco lobby.

COGnizant Women’s Ride

A beginner and cruiser friendly bike ride for women is held at 3 p.m. every third Saturday of the month beginning at the Durham Bike Co-op, 715 Washington St.

‘Sins of Omission’

The Main Library will host Dr. Valinda Littlefield for “Sins of Omission: African-American Women Educators and Rosenwald Schools” at 3 p.m. at 300 N. Roxboro St.
