▪ Allison Taylor earned the Military/Veteran Award of the National Alliance on Mental Illness North Carolina. Taylor, an occupational therapist at the Durham VA’s Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Center, was recognized for her work and collaboration with other medical professionals to care for veterans’ physical and mental health. She has also taught interns and post-graduate fellows and spoken nationally to VA occupational therapy professionals on training and practices.
▪ The City of Durham was recognized nationally for using technology to improve its transparency and efficiency. The city won eighth place in the Digital Communities Program and e.Republic’s Center for Digital Government’s 2015 Digital Cities Survey. The survey looks at cities’ work in citizen engagement, policy, operations and technology. Durham’s Technology Solutions Department earned its place in the list for its open data platform, IT infrastructure and developing Durham One Call.
