Notables

▪ Shonte Brown of Durham was chosen to compete in the 2015 Miss Teen pageant competition on Nov. 15. Brown competed for a chance to represent Raleigh and nearby communities at a national pageant.

▪ Durham VA Medical Center, American Tobacco Campus and Duke University were among the employers that GoSmart N.C. recognized for commuter programming.

▪ The city of Durham earned two 2015 Housing North Carolina Awards. The city earned its first award with its partnership with CASA and the Home Depot Foundation in the development of Denson Apartments. Denson Apartments is the city’s first permanent supportive housing for veterans with disabilities. The second award is for creating The Bungalows at Southside, part of the Southside Revitalization Project.
