▪ Piedmont EMC gave over $25,000 in Bright Ideas education grants to local teachers, including Thomas Johnson at Carolina Friends School and Jennifer Umbarger at Rogers Herr Middle School.
▪ Jill Whade earned WakeMed Health & Hospitals’ Nursing Leadership Excellence award. She has worked on WakeMed’s Nursing Administration team for nine years and was appointed to coordinate work to earn Magnet status with the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Whade earned the award by helping the health system earn Magnet status.
▪ The city of Durham was recognized for the 27th consecutive year for budget reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association. The city’s Budget and Management Services Department earned the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, part of the only national awards program and highest form of recognition for governmental budgeting.
