With repeated stories of police officers killing Black people and then not being convicted, it’s no wonder City Council member Jillian Johnson concludes that police are dangerous, especially for racial minorities.
Yes, one should add that many if not most police are conscientious and daily face potential danger, but the evidence pouring in from studies and through live video is that racism is alive and well in police forces and the justice system. When you add arms and impunity to fear and prejudice you have a big problem. It's not hard to understand why minority groups facing this racism would consider police dangerous.
The shootings in Dallas are also tragic and will probably make change harder.
