Durham Academy junior Will Beischer scored a 3-under-par 69 to capture the Durham High School Invitational title last Wednesday at Treyburn Country Club.
Riverside’s Junior Schrickx, a Treyburn member, was second with a 76, and Luke Farley of Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill was third with a 77.
DA’s Dylan Lukes and with teammate Allen Smith tied for fourth place at 78 to help DA take the team title with a total score of 304.
Voyager’s Mackenzie Barringer’s 79 tied for sixth place with Trinity’s Alaina Yeatts and Durham Academy golfers Garrett Massengill and Quade Lukes.
• Former Riverside High standout Sarah Greene finished her career at Emory University with Division III All-America honors in the springboard after finishing eighth in the 1-meter competition.
Emory won the women’s swimming and diving team DIII national championship for its fifth straight season. Greene posted at least one NCAA championship qualifying mark during her four years. She was named Collegiate Swim Coaches Association Scholar All-American in 2013 and 2014.
• Former Jordan High fullback Josh Williams is holding a combine for Triad players interested in playing college ball. Williams, who attends Guilford College, has coordinated an invitation-only “Janesh” combine for rising junior and senior high school football players in the Greensboro area May 3 at the college.
The goal is to showcase players that have been overlooked in the recruiting process.
Williams is a starter at fullback and on special teams for the Quakers.
