Police arrested and charged a man from Bailey with four counts each of statutory rape and sexual offense for having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl.
Daniel Liverman, 33, is charged with eight felonies and was booked in the Wake County jail Monday after being arrested at the victim’s home in Zebulon.
He was held in lieu of $3 million bail for a court appearance Tuesday.
In a release, Zebulon police said Liverman seemed to have befriended the victim at a local grocery store and later began a sexual relationship with her.
Arrest warrants show the relationship started in the beginning of June and lasted until Liverman was arrested, but did not specify how many times investigators believe Liverman had contact with the girl. Two charges could result from one incident because intercourse is covered under the state law’s definition of sexual activity.
Police are still investigating and more charges may be brought against Liverman as the investigation continues.
