A multi-car wreck occurred on Thursday afternoon around 2 p.m. on Old U.S. Highway 264.

Two eastbound vehicles were allegedly passing another eastbound vehicle when the wreck occurred about one mile east of Five County Stadium.

A black 2011 Ford pickup truck, driven by Fred Swan, 63, of Zebulon, was illegally passing when a blue 1989 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Fletcher Pretty, 50, of Sims, attempted to illegally pass the vehicle in front of him.

The Ford attempted to cut back into the right lane, the front of the vehicle clipping the rear of the Chevrolet, which spun out of control.

The Chevrolet crossed the road, hitting a gold 2006 Pontiac that was out of gasoline, and then flipped over.

Pretty and the passenger of the Pontiac were sent to WakeMed with non-life-threatening injuries.
