A work crew’s miscue led to a three-hour gas line episode at the intersection of West North Street and Wakefield Street earlier this month.
No one was hurt in the Aug. 5 incident, according to Zebulon Fire Chief Chris Perry.
Perry said contractors burying fiberoptic cable for AT&T dug into a two-inch natural gas line shortly before 5 p.m.
A PSNC Energy crew had to shut off the gas and repair the damaged pipe while Zebulon police and firemen diverted traffic from the site and went door to door notifying area homeowners of the situation.
