Sheriff’s Office investigating home invasion, shooting near Wendell

The Wake County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a home invasion that resulted in a man being shot north of Wendell early Thursday morning.

Officials received a call that someone had intruded into the residence at 6701 Woodtrace Drive, off Edgemont Road, about 12:30 a.m.

When deputies arrived, they found a man had been shot with what was described as non-life threatening injury. The man was taken to WakeMed, treated and later released, officials said.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman John Dee Jones about noon said he was waiting to hear back from investigators on more details, including who was shot – whether it was someone in the home or a suspect in the invasion.

Wake County real estate records show Sheree Street and Patsy Taylor became owners of the one-story home on April 7.
