Barbecue and yard sale
The Wendell Masonic Lodge #565 and Eastern Star Chapter #87 will hold a barbecue and yard sale from 7:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 23, in the parking lot behind Agave Mexican Bar & Grill, at the corner Third and Cypress Streets in Wendell. Several churches and community resource groups are uniting to put on a book-bag jamboree Saturday, Aug. 23, from 2-4:30 p.m. at the Zebulon Boys & Girls Club to help prepare children for the upcoming school year. In addition to giving out book bags, popcorn and information at the expo-like event, booster bags will also be provided for mothers who attend. Little Miss & Mr. Wendell
The Little Miss & Mr. Wendell contest will be held Oct. 3 and 4 at the Wendell Harvest Festival. Contestants will ride a float at 10 a.m. Oct. 4 in the festival parade, and will gather at the town square stage at 11:30 a.m., where each contestant will be introduced and winners will be crowned.
