Jan. 21 Pet of the Week: Blackbeard

Get to know him: Blackbeard is a 6-month-old Maine coon mix. As one of the “Pirate Kittens,” Blackbeard was found in a feral colony where a virus had spread and damaged the eyes of several of the kittens. He has a chronic wet and a sometimes prominent third eyelid as a result of this infection, but his eye issues are entirely cosmetic, having received a clean bill of health from Animal Eye Care in Cary. Blackbeard enjoys playing, but he loves cuddling even more. He was fostered in a home with large, cat-friendly dogs and gets along well with them.
