Capital Area Transit will offer a shuttle service during the N.C. State Fair, Oct. 17-27. There will be a fixed-route shuttle service on Hillsborough Street and nonstop service from two park-and-ride locations to the fair. The shuttles will operate every 20 to 30 minutes each day of the fair, including Sundays. All passengers will be dropped off at Gate 1 at the fairgrounds.
The general fare will be $4, with children under 40 inches riding free and seniors over 65 years receiving a reduced rate of $2. Exact change will be required, though shuttle ticket sellers will be available at the park-and-ride lots most hours and will be able to make change. Shuttle passes can also be purchased in advance at CAT’s Transit Operations Facility, 4104 Poole Road, or at the Moore Square Transit Station information booth downtown.
GoPasses are not valid on the State Fair shuttles. Routes and times are as follows:
The Hillsborough Street shuttle will run from 8:30 a.m. to midnight, except Oct. 17, when it will run 2:30 p.m. to midnight. The shuttle will begin on Wilmington Street at Morgan Street and travel to the fairgrounds via Edenton and Hillsborough streets. Stops are located along Hillsborough Street at the blue State Fair signs. Free parking will be available Saturdays and Sundays during the fair in the state government parking lots bounded by Edenton, Wilmington, Jones and Blount Streets.

The North Raleigh park-and-ride will be located at 2728 Capital Blvd., and the nonstop express shuttle will run from 8:30 a.m. to midnight except on Oct. 17, when it will run from 2:30 p.m. to midnight.
The Cary park-and-ride will be located at the WakeMed Soccer Park, 201 Soccer Park Drive, Cary. It will operate on the same schedule as the park-and-ride located on Capital Blvd.
