Around Zebulon, it’s no secret that the Zebulon Woman’s Club and its members do lots of good things. At the convention for the General Federation of Woman’s Clubs of North Carolina held April 27-30 in Atlantic Beach, the club was recognized on the state level for outstanding volunteerism by the group, and by an individual member.
The club won an award for work in the area of education based on the club’s annual sponsorship of an East Wake High School student to participate in a summer leadership conference. The club was also recognized for its newsletter.
In regard to individual honors, Patricia Roberson received the Juanita Bryant Outstanding Citizenship and Patriotism Award. The nomination highlighted her many contributions to the community, and stated in part “…during 2015 she devoted countless hours to community service, through the Woman’s Club, through other organizations, and through her own individual involvement. She is a well-rounded individual. Rather than focusing on just one project, she gives of her time and talents to many worthy causes. Our community is better as a result of her efforts, so much so that she was recently honored as 2015 Citizen of the Year for the town of Zebulon….”
Her family surprised her by being present when the award was announced.
