Principal completes leadership program

Stephen Lee Gay, Head of School of East Wake Academy, completed the Distinguished Leadership Program of the North Carolina Principals and Assistant Principals’ Association and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

Students earn scholarships

Rhianna Marusek of Knightdale, Jocelynn Morelli of Wendell and Chantal Scott and Hannah Tillman of Zebulon were awarded $1,000 scholarships from Ronald McDonald House Charities of North Carolina and local McDonald’s owners and operators.

Students were chosen for their academic achievement and community involvement.

Wendell student graduates with honors

Anita Jordan Tyndall, the daughter of Sue Hardison and Ken Tyndall of Wendell, graduated cum laude from UNC-Greensboro. She also graduated with full honors from the school’s Lloyd International Honors College.

Tyndall graduated in 2012 from East Wake Academy in Zebulon.

Zebulon resident earns scholarship

Joshua Boone of Zebulon earned the 2016 Alston-Pleasants Scholarship for undergraduate studies at UNC-Chapel Hill.

Boone is valedictorian of the 2016 senior class at Bunn High School.

Student serves as page

Emilyann Colleen Marsh of Zebulon, a student at Corinth Holders High School, served as a page for the N.C. Senate.

Students earn honors

Imani Stubbs of Knightdale and Suzanna Lee and Lineth Martinez of Zebulon were named to the spring Honors List at Louisburg College.

Marianne Dowen earns Ministerial credentials

Rev. Marianne Dowen of Venture Church of Knightdale earned Ministerial credentials with the International Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She has worked with her husband, Rev. Dr. Robert Dowen, for 36 years. He presented her Local Church Ministries License during Venture Church’s Mother’s Day service.
