Isaiah Langston, a high school junior at Rolesville High, died after collapsing on the field Friday night before a football game.
Wake County Schools announced on Twitter, “The loss of one of our students affects all of us. Our thoughts are with Isaiah’s family as we extend our deepest sympathy to them.”
WTVD reported Monday that Langston’s family had confirmed that he had died.
Rolesville High football coach Jermaine Evans said all that he knew was that Langston collapsed during pregame workouts and was taken to the hospital.
“We are all very concerned,” Evans said.
Rolesville High principal Ericka Lucas, Rolesville athletic director Tommy Moore, Wake County athletic director Deran Coe and Wake County School spokesperson Lisa Luten said they would not comment in accordance to the family’s wishes.
