Senior captain Bruce Campos struck twice Monday as East Wake Academy shut out Roxboro Community School, 5-0, in the rematch between the two North Central Athletic 1A boys soccer teams.

The game wrapped up a sweep for the Eagles in the series between the rival teams. East Wake Academy won the first meeting, 4-3, in a second overtime period in Roxboro on Sept. 14.

Monday’s game was just as physical, but less hectic for the Eagles after they took a 3-0 lead over the course of a six-minute span in the first half on goals by Steven Williams (Tyler Sparks corner kick), Drake Weatherspoon and Campos (Weatherspoon assist).

Senior Aidan Royals scored his first-ever goal as an Eagle, on a penalty kick, and Campos added another goal in the second half.

The Eagles improved to 8-10-1 overall and 6-8 in the NCAC with the win over the Bulldogs (4-16, 4-11).
