A Garner woman was charged Thursday with insurance fraud
Kennie Michelle Vanderhall, 48, of 703 Powell St., Garner was charged with one count each of insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense.
Department of Insurance criminal investigators allege that sometime around Dec. 5, 2013, Vanderhall filed a fraudulent loss report with Farm Bureau Insurance Company claiming that assorted Christmas presents were stolen from her vehicle. Investigators accused Vanderhall of inflating the number of items stolen in an attempt to claim more money from the insurer.
Vanderhall was placed under a $10,000 bond.
