The Johnston County Center of the N.C. Cooperative Extension Service, in cooperation with the Johnston County Environmental Health Department, will offer the N.C. Safe Plates Food Safety Certification Course starting Tuesday, Jan. 27.
N.C. Safe Plates is a comprehensive course for food service managers and supervisory staff in restaurants, hospitals, nursing homes, childcare facilities and other establishments that prepare or handle food.
The course will be from 8 a.m. to noon Jan, 27-29 at the Johnston County Cooperative Extension office at 2736 N.C. 210, Smithfield. The exam will be given Monday, Feb. 2 after a review. The deadline to register for the course is Jan. 23.
The exam is optional, but those who pass the exam will be certified by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals.
