We asked kindergarteners and first graders at Creech Road Elementary School, “If the pilgrims showed up to your doorstep on Thanksgiving, what would you do or say?”

Here’s how they responded:

Eduardo Cedillo, 6, first grade

“Welcome to our country and nice to meet you.”

Julian Gilkes, 7, first grade

“I would just run and give them a huge hug and say ‘thank you for making our country.’ ”

Justice Brown, 6, first grade

“I would think to give them a present and say ‘thank you.’ ”

Kora Chandler, 5, kindergarten

“I would say ‘you are the greatest and you are the best.’ ”

Micah Starling, 6, kindergarten

“I would give them something, and say ‘how are you?’ And I would say ‘thank you for making our community.’ ”
