The 8th Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training academy was held Oct. 20-24 by Johnston County Mental Health Center and Johnston Community College. Since the fall of 2011, 78 people have become certified CIT officers, 63 of them from Johnston County.
CIT is a training and response program designed for law enforcement and other first responders who handle crisis calls including people with mental illness, intellectual disabilities and alcohol and substance abuse disorders.
