Army trains Jordan Kearney
Army National Guard Pfc. Jordan A, Kearney has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. He is the son of Vernice Kearney of Hazelnut Drive, Raleigh.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, basic combat skills, and battlefield operations and tactics.
Kearney is a 2007 graduate of Southeast Raleigh High School.
Air Force trains Taquan Williams
Air Force Airman TaQuan D. Williams has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio. He is the son of Stephania Campbell of Blue Pond Road, Clayton, and the grandson of Debbra Atkinson of Eunice Drive, Fayetteville.
The airman completed an eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, the Air Force’s core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Williams is a 2010 graduate of E.E. Smith Senior High School in Fayetteville.
Miss Relay for Life
The Relay for Life Club at West Johnston High School held its first Miss Relay for Life pageant March 2. Here are the winners by title:
Teeny Miss – Lalya Dowdy; Tiny Miss – Elizabeth Paige Vacarelli; Petite Miss – Emily Kemp; Young Junior Miss – Jenny Lonesky; Junior Teen Miss – Alyssa Manross; Teen Miss – Nicole Lonesky; Miss – Ashlee Elliot and Miss/Mrs. – Ashley Mennella.
Superlative winners, such as Most Photogenic, Best Smile and Prettiest Eyes, will be announced at the Johnston County Relay for Life, which will be held May 31-June 1 at Smithfield-Selma High School, 700 E. Booker Dairy Road, Smithfield.
A new doctor
Samantha Price of Clayton has earned the doctor of podiatric medicine degree from Midwestern University’s Arizona School of Podiatric Medicine. She is the daughter of Shaun and Ronda Price of Wilson’s Mills.
Price is a 2005 graduate of Clayton High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from Meredith College in 2009/
Price plans to complete a three-year residency at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, Ohio. She plans to foscus on foot surgery.
