Family flick, camping

The Town of Garner will hold its Family Flick and Camping Nights at 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 17, and Friday, June 14, at Lake Benson Park, 921 Buffaloe Road, Garner. The May film is “Wreck it Ralph,” and the June film is “Madagascar 3.” Campers will need to bring tents, camping gear, food and beverages; snacks will be available for purchase. Admission to the movie is free. Camping costs $12 per family for Garner residents and $15 for nonresidents. Campers must register online at www.garnernc.gov or call 919-773-4442.

Flapjack fundraiser

A pancake breakfast is scheduled 8-10 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at Applebee’s, 1165 U.S. 70 West, Garner. The cost is $7, with proceeds going to American Legion Post 232 in Garner. For more information, call 919-661-9505.

Library programs

Southeast Regional Library in Garner has scheduled the following programs. The library is at 908 Seventh Ave.

Relay fundraisers

The following fundraisers will benefit the Garner Relay for Life: Flowers for a Year – Relay team Southern Trace Friends is selling flowers. The cost is $20 and includes 12 bouquets, one per month. Boathouse opens

The Lake Benson boathouse has opened for the season at 975 Buffaloe Road, Garner. Hours are noon-7 p.m. Fridays, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturdays and noon- 7 p.m. Sundays. It will be closed on Fridays in July and August. Boat rentals start at $4 an hour. No private boats are allowed. Free fishing is available from the dock. Book sale in Raleigh

Wake County public libraries will hold their annual book sale and Festival of Reading May 9-12 in the Jim Graham Building on the N.C. State Fairgrounds, 1025 Blue Ridge Road, Raleigh. The book sale will run 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Saturday will also feature family-friendly activities and entertainment. Go Red for Women

The sixth annual Triangle Go Red for Women luncheon is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 17, at the Marriott City Center, 500 Fayetteville St., Raleigh.
