Family Fun Day
The Archer Lodge Community Center is hosting its annual Family Fun Day and Independence Day celebration 7 p.m. Friday, June 28 and 6:30a.m.-9:15 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at the corner of Archer Lodge and Buffalo Road in Archer Lodge.
Featured highlights on Friday include the crowning of Little Miss Archer Lodge 2013 and the barbecue pig cookoff. Activities start early on Saturday, with a road race and a patriotic parade, concessions all day and inflatables, corn hole tournament, bingo and cakewalk.

Town of Garner seeks volunteers
The Garner Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department needs volunteers for its Independence Day celebration Wednesday, July 3, at Lake Benson Park, 921 Buffaloe Road, Garner. Volunteers are needed to help in setup, cleanup, arts and crafts, and games. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older. They will receive a free T-shirt and meal.
