Baber claims pageant title
A Garner woman has won the title of Miss Indian North Carolina.
Savannah Baber, 18, won the title last month during the North Carolina Indian Unity Conference held in Raleigh. Baber is a senior at Garner High School and will attend Wake Forest University in the fall.
As the winner of the 2015-16 Miss Indian North Carolina, Baber will server as an ambassador for American Indians across the state, their tribes and other affiliated organizations throughout North Carolina.

The daughter of the Rev. Lewis Baber and Kimberly Baber, she is a member of the Lumbee Indian tribe and she hopes to use her year in office promoting cultural awareness through education.
She is a member of the Beta Club, the history club and the Native American Student Organization. She is a member of the New Bethel Baptist youth group.
