West Johnston student wins scholarship
The Johnston Soil and Water Conservation District and sponsor Four Oaks Bank has awarded the 2015 Resource Conservation Workshop Scholarship to Lindsay Barnes, rising senior at West Johnston High School. The scholarship will allow Barnes to join other high school students across the state in a weeklong environmental Resource Conservation Workshop at N.C. State University later this month.
Johnston Community College held a commencement ceremony for its graduates awarding nearly 600 associate degrees and diplomas to students. Student serves as page in for N.C. State House
Brooke Capps, a student at Wake Christian Academy, recently served as a Page for the North Carolina House of Representatives. She is the daughter of Paul and Terri Capps of Garner and was sponsored by Representative Darren G. Jackson. Speaker of the House Tim Moore appoints the Pages and introduces each one to members and citizens in the House gallery at the start of each week during Monday night’s session. Pages spend a week at the General Assembly assisting members and their staff and learning about the structure of North Carolina government.
