Garner police have been busy the past several days settling into their new police station on Seventh Avenue. The brightly-lit, welcoming police station offers enough space for officers to work comfortably and efficiently and it remains centrally located to residents can access their police department quickly when the need arises.
Smiles were the rule rather than the exception on a recent rainy Friday when police held a soft opening and cut the first of two ribbons on the building. Completion of the new station is also the most significant improvement yet to come from the $35 million bond issue passed by voters in 2013. The former police station had been in use since 1974, a signal that Garner residents had gotten their money’s worth out of that building.
We expect a similar trajectory for the new police station, but unlike the old facility, it is equipped the means to use today’s technology and still provide safety to officers and others who have business to conduct at the facility.
Be sure to go see your new police station at upcoming open house celebrations.
