Basketball Academy seeks coaches, mentors

The Smithfield-Selma Sports Academy Basketball organization is looking for people within the community who are interested in serving as coaches and mentors to the youth of our area. Golf tournament will help buy baseball equipment

The Benson-based Bulls Youth Baseball Association will hold a fundraising golf tournament at 1 p.m. on Oct. 24 at Reedy Creek Golf Course. Funds from the four-person captain's choice tournament will help the Bulls buy equipment for their training facility. Golf tournaments for ages 6-11

The Tarheel Youth Golf Association will offer a new TYGA Tots tournament program for ages 6-11. These nine-hole tournaments will use a modified Stableford scoring system. Courses will be between 1,000-1,200 yards for ages 6-7, 1,400-1,600 for ages 8-9 and 1,800-2,000 for ages 10-11. Each player must have an adult caddie. Entry fees are $20-35 per event.
