WCA quartet earns all-state football honors

Wake Christian has announced its fall sports team honors for the recently completed season.

The Bulldogs’ boys soccer team named Casey Brady as its Best Defensive Player and Will Glas as its Best Offensive Player. Brady was also an all-Triangle Independent Schools Athletic Conference selection. Glas was an honorable mention selection. Other soccer awards went to Ryan Helder (Most Improved) and Chad Birkenstock (Coach’s Award).

Wake Forest volleyball recruit Haley Brooke McFadden was the Wake Christian team MVP and also a TISAC selection. Marley Wilson picked up the Offense Award and all-conference honors as well. Emily Smith received the Coach’s Award and Hannah Izzell won the Bulldog Award.

Luke Ryals was named the Big East Independent Football Conference Offensive Player of the Year. He was also the recipient of the Doug Buckner Award as the WCA team MVP.

Connor Collins was named Defensive MVP and Kyle Patterson was the Offensive MVP. Lineman awards went to Hunter Wilson (defense) and Andrew Spain (offense).

Patterson, Wilson and Ryals were also NCISAA Division III All-State selections. Isaiah Moore, Wilson, Patterson, Ryals and Collins were all-conference selections. John Fuller and Adam Jones were honorable mention all-conference picks.

Cross country honors for the Bulldog girls team were presented to Storm Davis (Mr. William Buffaloe Award), Caroline Diorio (Most Improved) and Sally Hart (Most Valuable Runner). Hart was also an all-conference selection.

Michael Smith picked up the William Buffaloe Award on the boys’ side, John Frechette was the Most Improved and Dylan DeSpain was the Most Valuable Runner.

Alexa Mangum took the Golden Racket Award in girls tennis, while Joci Kyles was the Most Improved player and Kaylee Jones won the Coach’s Award.

Varsity cheerleading awards were presented to Krystal Duncan (MVP), Amanda Dry (Coach’s Award), Haley Bennett (Most Spirited) and Emma Fuller (Bulldog Award).
