East Wake boys top Southeast on road
East Wake went on the road and earned an important 66-54 Greater Neuse 4A Conference boys basketball win at Southeast Raleigh Friday night.
The Warriors were paced by Josh McLean and his 17 points and ended the night with four different players in double figures to move into sole possession of third place in the GNRC standings with a 7-3 mark in the league.
In the pivotal third quarter when East Wake (13-5) doubled up the Bulldogs 22-11, Tyler Burton, McLean and Josh Siler all hit from three-point range to help extend the lead to 18 points.
Southeast Raleigh, who won the first meeting between the two schools, managed to draw to within 10 points on a Malik Bullock layup with just over three minutes to go.
There was no getting over the hump for the Bulldogs, however, as Southeast Raleigh fell to 9-10 overall and 5-5 in the conference, tied with Rolesville in fourth place with four games to go in the regular season.
Leading Southeast Raleigh was David Thompson and his 15 points. John Baker IV added eight.
To go along with McLean’s 17 points, Siler went for 13, Quincy Jackson managed 11 and Ja’mel Coles added 10.
