Trojans edge West Johnston for golf win
Garner used an even par round from Nichole Ceyrolles to edge West Johnston in a Greater Neuse River 4A Conference girls golf match at Pine Hollow Golf Club Tuesday. The Trojans finished at 129, three shots ahead of West.
In addition to Nichole Ceyrolles’ 36, Garner benefited from a 42 from Lauren Ceyrolles and matching 51s from Emily O’Neill and Arianna Ceyrolles.
Monika Vidlickova shot 40 for West, while Preslee Honeycutt and Blair Koonce both shot 46.

Clayton finished at 136 with Maryanna Byrd carding a 42, Olivia Hall finishing at 46 and Katherine Dull at 48.
Wake Christian rolls
Wake Christian took advantage of goals from four different players in a 5-1 victory over Fayetteville Christian on Tuesday. Will Glas (two goals), Killian Nowrey, Jeffrey Tan, Casey Brady all scored for the Bulldogs who moved to 6-2-1 with the victory.
Garner wins seventh straight in tennis
Garner ran its girls tennis winning streak to seven matches with a 9-0 sweep of East Wake on Wednesday. The Trojans are 8-1 overall and 7-1 in the Greater Neuse River 4A Conference.
Garner has won seven or more of the nine matches during its winning streak.
Trojans Sarah Hamlin and Alyssa Clark won at love in singles, while Hamlin teamed with Bailey Roque for a doubles win at love. Nicole Root and Mandisa Ebri also won their doubles match 8-0.
Spartans win Two Rivers golf opener
Smithfield-Selma defended its home layout Monday, winning the first Two Rivers 3A Conference girls golf match of the season with a 149 total. Haley Talton of SSS paced the field with a 4-over, 40, for medalist honors.
Parker Watson added a 50 for the Spartans, while Marjorie Alston shot 59.
Corinth Holders and Triton tied for second at 154. Corinth Holders took advantage of a 44 from Peyton Labonte and a 53 from Taylor Knott.
South Johnston (162) finished fourth, four strokes ahead of Cleveland. Sydney Wheeless paced South with a 51 and Emily Kirsch shot 53. Kelsie Baker put up a 53 for Cleveland and Tabby Herzig shot 54.
Garner still unbeaten in GNRC volleyball matches
Garner won its fifth Greater Neuse River 4A Conference volleyball match of the season in as many tries Tuesday, topping Knightdale, 25-10, 25-18, 25-15. Ka’asha Jefferies led Garner with 19 kills and Brooke Kamphuis added 10.
