Clayton dominates Garner

Clayton’s boys tennis team continued to roll with an 8-1 victory over Garner last week. The Comets are 6-0 in Greater Neuse River 4A Conference matches and 7-0 overall.

Klein Evans, Naren Guha, Ian Bliss, Noah Depriest and Tayler Cline won in singles for the Comets.

Garner’s only win came from Adam Gogal, who topped Vance Lanier, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 5 singles.

Corinth Holders wins at Reedy Creek

Corinth Holders’ boys golf team won the Two Rivers 3A Conference golf match at Reedy Creek Golf Course last week, finishing at 338 for the 18-hole match. Cleveland was second at 358.

South Johnston’s Patrick Stephenson picked up medalist honors with an even-par round of 72.

Nick Routhier led Corinth Holders with a 79, while Kellan Labonte shot 82 and Sam Baxter added an 87.

Morgan Berger and Jarred Lisec both carded 87s for Cleveland.

South was third in the team standings at 361. Triton and Western Harnett tied for fourth. Smithfield-Selma, led by Ethan Faulconer’s 88, was sixth.

West Johnston second in GNRC golf match

Harnett Central continued to lead the way in the Greater Neuse River 4A Conference boys golf race with a 13-stroke win at Wendell Country Club on Wednesday. Central finished at 331 with West Johnston coming in at 344.

Alex Molgaard and Jacob Lowe shared medalist honors with 78s for Harnett Central.

Brice Connors led West with an 84, while David Chavis carded an 85 and Ben Lacombe shot 86.

Garner was third at 356, led by Matteo Ceyrolles, and Clayton took fifth at 366. Matt King shot 87 for the Comets.
