Teen filmmaker to discuss film

Cliff Bumgardner, local teen filmmaker, will discuss his short documentary on Vic Spence, a BHS grad and World War II veteran who has worked in Wake County law enforcement for 40 years, at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Wade Edwards Learning Lab, 714 Saint Mary’s St., Raleigh. Rabies, microchip clinic

The town of Rolesville, along with the Wake County Animal Shelter, will hold a rabies vaccine and microchip clinic from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Main Street Park, 200 S. Main St., Rolesville. Vet technicians and volunteers will provide three-year rabies vaccinations for $5 and microchips for $10. Owners must provide proof of prior vaccinations. Pets must be on a leash or in a pet carrier. Bone marrow typing drive

A bone marrow typing drive is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Wiley Elementary School at 301 Saint Mary’s St., Raleigh. Testing to look for bone marrow matches requires a cheek swab. Ages 18-44 most needed.

Saturdays in the Garden

Saturdays in the Garden is scheduled from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the N.C. Museum of History, 5 E. Edenton St., Raleigh. Join a museum garden staff member for an informal tour of the History of the Harvest exhibit lining Bicentennial Plaza. Tour participants will meet at the information desk in the lobby.

Dog wash to benefit basset rescue

Carolina Basset Hound Rescue is holding an indoor dog wash fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Unleashed in Lake Boone shopping center, 2460 Wycliff Road, Raleigh. Firemen’s Day

The Brassfield Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual Firemen’s Day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the fire station, 1680 N.C. 96, Franklinton.
