Carnival at Fred Olds Elementary
The Fred Olds Elementary PTA will hold Spring Fling from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 31, at Fred A. Olds Elementary School, 204 Dixie Trail, Raleigh. Scholarship for students with disabilities
Students can apply for Mayor’s Committee scholarships through May 31. The Raleigh Mayor’s Committee for Persons with Disabilities annually awards two $1,000 scholarships to students with disabilities.
Applicants must be residents of Raleigh and must be enrolled in or have been accepted to an accredited undergraduate post-secondary school, college, trade school or other institution of higher learning. The recipients will be chosen based on academic performance, financial need, character, school and community activities, honors or awards, and the ability to express themselves in an essay.
Wake Electric offering grant programs
Teachers can apply for grants up to $3,000 in Wake Electric’s Classroom Technology Awards grant program and the Bright Ideas grant program for the 2013-14 school year until Sept. 12. Eligible teachers include public school K-12 working in Durham, Franklin, Granville, Johnston, Nash, Vance and Wake counties.

• Bright Ideas grants will be awarded directly to teachers for creative, hands-on classroom projects that would not otherwise be funded. To apply, teachers must include a budget, explain the creative elements, implementation, goals and evaluation of the project, and have approval from the school principal.
