Get to know him: George is a sweet, 4- to 5-year-old, handsome, BIG boy – about 60 lbs. While he is strong, he truly is a gentle giant and loves to walk on a leash. He loves people and other dogs and loves to be snuggled and scratched. And if you scratch behind those lovely basset ears, he will give you the grunt of approval. One of his favorite foods is the potato, but don’t give this boy any cashews. He will use his nose to nudge them right back at you. George is heartworm-negative, neutered and up-to-date on all of his vaccines.
For more information: CBHR is a volunteer-staffed, nonprofit organization that rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes unwanted basset hounds in North Carolina and South Carolina. To see more than 50 bassets available through the group or to fill out an adoption application, go to www.cbhr.com. Adoption fees range from $100 to $250 to help offset costs. Because of the high numbers of dogs in need of rescue from kill shelters, CBHR is unable to accept owner turned in dogs at this time. To contact the group, call 919-708-4247.
