Jimmy V Classic

Volunteers are needed for the 20th annual Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic to be held Aug. 23-25 at North Ridge Country Club, 6612 Falls of Neuse Road, Raleigh. Volunteers must be 16 years old or older, and the most-needed positions are marshals, transportation and standard bearers. Teen court

The Capital Area Teen Court hears real cases involving youths ages 9-18. Teenagers ages 9-18 act as defense and prosecuting attorneys, bailiffs, court clerks and jurors. Tutors needed

The Wade Edwards Learning Lab seeks volunteers to tutor high school students. Information sessions will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, and 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5. For more information, contact Betsey McFarland at 919-856-9233 or bmcfarland@wade.org.

Activate Raleigh Day

The second Activate Raleigh Day of Service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 11, throughout Raleigh and the Triangle. More than 1,500 volunteers are needed to work on 40 service projects in remembrance of the Sept. 11, 2001, tragedies. Projects will include blood donations, home improvements, beautifying schools and education centers, public art installations and environmental protection.
