Oak City 7

Oak City 7, a free summer concert series, features notable bands, local and craft beers and food from 5 to 9:30 p.m. on alternating Thursdays in City Plaza on Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh. Three bands perform for each show, and the next one is Thursday, June 28. For more information, including a schedule of bands, go to oakcity7.com.

Midtown Beach Music Series at North Hills

North Hills presents the Midtown Beach Music Series every Thursday through Aug. 9. The schedule includes the following performers:

The Art of the Necklace

An opening reception and trunk show for “The Art of the Necklace” is set for 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 6, at The Third Place coffeehouse, 1811 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh. The Art of the Necklace features photographs by Carl Tyer of models wearing mixed media character necklaces made by Rock Kershaw. All photographs and necklaces are available for purchase, and the event will include live jazz. For more information, call 919-834-6566.

Roundabout featuring Jackson in July

Roundabout Art Collective will feature guest artist Nina Jackson and her show “Mood Swings” during July. Jackson works mainly in oil with a focus on contrast of light and dark. A First Friday reception is set for 6-9 p.m. Friday, July 6. For more information, go to www.roundaboutartcollective.com.

Sunflower to feature Farmer in July

Sunflower Studio & Gallery will feature Billy Farmer for Art After Hours from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 13, at the gallery, 214 E. Jones Ave., Wake Forest. Farmer, a North Carolina native, began to work as an artist after retiring from a career as a band director and music teacher. He works mainly in watercolor but also acrylic, pastels and charcoals. Farmer’s work will be on exhibit until Aug. 9.

Music on the Green

Music on the Green, a series of outdoor concerts, is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays through October at Lafayette Village, 8450 Honeycutt Road, Raleigh. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Takeout meals available. For more information, go to www.lafayettevillageraleigh.com.
