Burcher guest artist at Sunflower

Clotilde Burcher will be the guest artist from Aug. 10- Sept. 8, at the Sunflower Studio & Gallery, at 214 E. Jones Avenue, downtown Wake Forest. Burcher, an acrylic painter, obtains much of her inspiration from her travels out west and Tuscany, Italy. An opening reception for her work is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at the gallery. Light refreshments and wine will be served. ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ auditions

North Raleigh Arts and Creative Theater will hold auditions for “Little Shop of Horrors” at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 19, and at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 21. Callbacks are at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 22. Auditions are open to anyone ages 13-20. Anyone interested in auditioning should prepare a one-minute song with music or a capella preferably in the Broadway or ’50s doo-wop genres. Sunday in the Park Concert Series

Nick Driver Band, which plays acoustic rock, will play at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 22, at Pullen Park, 520 Ashe Ave., Raleigh. Bring chairs, blankets or picnic baskets; no alcohol is permitted. Concerts that are canceled due to inclement weather will not be rescheduled.

Beach music series at North Hills

North Hills presents the Midtown Beach Music Series every Thursday through Aug. 9. The schedule includes the following performers:

Summer Artist Speaker Series

The final event of the Summer Artist Speaker Series is scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 26, at The Hive, at Busy Bee Café, 225 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh. Photographer Jim Millay will share images of the evolution of baseball parks and his recent experience with high-performance athletes. Some of his work will be available for purchase at The Hive until Aug. 28. Oak City 7 concert series

Oak City 7, a free summer concert series, also features local craft beers and food trucks from 5 to 9:30 p.m. on alternating Thursdays in City Plaza on Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh.
