Adam Gibbs to address Wake Democrats

Adam Gibbs will address the Wake Democratic Men’s Club on Monday, Aug. 13, at The Clarion Hotel, 320 Hillsborough St., Raleigh. Gibbs, the public engagement coordinator for the Democratic National Convention Committee, will provide an update on the Democratic National Convention scheduled Sept. 3-6 in Charlotte.

Gibbs is a native North Carolinian and a graduate of N.C. State University. He worked on President Obama’s 2008 campaign. He is also a veteran of Capitol Hill, having served in the communications department for the office of Majority Whip James Clyburn.

Doors open at 6 and dinner will be served at 6:30. Cost is $17 for members and $20 for nonmembers. The program starts at 7 p.m. Make checks payable to the Wake Democratic Men’s Club. To RSVP, email wakedemmen@wakedems.org by 10 a.m. the day of the meeting.

Diabetes support group meeting

A diabetes support group meeting is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at Milner Memorial Church, 1950 New Bern Ave., Raleigh. FemCity starts Pink Collar series

FemCity Raleigh is starting a Pink Collar Business Series to provide personalized advice and brainstorming through confidential, informal, focus-group gatherings of professional women. The first Pink Collar event, a roundtable for women who want to launch, expand or rebrand their businesses, is scheduled from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, at Simply Crepes, 8470 Honeycutt Road, Suite 110, Raleigh. BPW Raleigh meeting

The BPW of Raleigh will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, at the Brier Creek Country Club. The meeting will include networking followed by dinner.
