Triangle Women of Distinction awards
Soroptimist International of Raleigh will hold its annual Distinction Awards from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at North Hills Club, 4824 Yadkin Drive, Raleigh. Mary Cantando, founder of The Woman’s Advantage, will deliver a keynote presentation on this year’s theme of Ordinary Women, Extraordinary Action. The event will also feature a reception and silent auction.
Five area women will be honored with Distinction Awards. The Violet Richardson Award will be given to Ashley Hayes, founder of Shepherd Youth Ranch, and Kristin Chung, for her work with Wags 4 Tags. The Women’s Opportunity Award will be presented to Patricia Drum. The $2,000 grant will help her pursue her dream of becoming a pastry chef through The Chef’s Academy. Tanisha Dildy and Sherry Wiggins will also receive a $500 award.

Keith Sutton to address League of Women Voters

Grief support group
Grief support group meetings will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. each Tuesday in classroom 1008 at the Wakefield High School Ninth Grade Center, 931 Durham Road, Wake Forest. Participants will be guided through a series of discussions as well as explore tools to assist them through the grieving process.
