Rowing Sneak Peek

Triangle Rowing Club will hold its free fall “Sneak Peek” week Aug. 25-30 at Lake Wheeler Park, 6404 Lake Wheeler Road, Raleigh. The event gives middle and high school students the chance to try rowing and see if they are interested. The event is from 3:30 to 6 p.m. each day. Visit TriangleRowing.org for more information.

5k run

The annual North Hills 5k run benefiting North Raleigh Ministries will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Trinity Baptist Church, 4815 Six Forks Road, Raleigh. North Raleigh Ministries is a nonprofit organization that aims to end hunger in the Raleigh area through programs such as Back Pack Buddies and The Crisis Center Market. All of the proceeds from the North Hills 5k will help fund the group’s various outreach programs.

Racquets for Research

The V Foundation for Cancer Research will hold its ninth annual Racquets for Research Friday, Sept. 12, and Saturday, Sept. 13, at North Hills Racquet Club, 4824 Yadkin Drive, Raleigh. Racquets for Research offers tennis fans and players the opportunity to play with and learn from world-class playing professionals while supporting The V Foundation. Magnificient Mile Race

The ninth annual Magnificent Mile Race will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, at 300 Hillsborough St., Raleigh. The event will kick off with the Competitive Mile, followed by the Recreational Mile and a pair of kids’ races: a 100-meter dash for ages 6 and under, and a 400-meter dash for 12 and under. Furry 5k Run / 2k Walk
