Dog Days of Summer 5K

The Dog Days of Summer 5K will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, along the 200 block of Blount Street in Raleigh. The cost is $30 and proceeds will benefit Second Chance Pet Adoptions and Safe Harbor Farm. For more information or to register, visit www.dogdays5k.runraleighraces.com.

Youth triathlon

Kids in Training will hold a youth triathlon at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at Brier Creek Country Club, 9400 Club Hill Drive, Raleigh. The triathlon is for children ages 5-17 and requires an active USA Triathlon membership. The cost starts at $30 and includes one training session, a race giveaway and award. Adult baseball

The Athletics Department will be holding registration for the Adult Baseball League on Aug. 5 and will last until the league is full. Team fee is $450. Registration will be at 2401 Wade Ave. Raleigh from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday. For more information, call 919-831-6836.

Junior golf tournament

The 24th annual Jack Ratz Jr. Memorial Junior Golf Tournament is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at Wildwood Green Golf Club, 3000 Bally Bunion Way, Raleigh. The event is open to junior golfers, ages 6-18, and costs $50 per person. The Ratz family will donate $1,000 to the Cardinal Gibbons High School memorial scholarship in the winners’ names. Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic

The Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic will be held Aug. 23-25 at the North Ridge Country Club, 6612 Falls of Neuse Road, Raleigh. Participating celebrities include NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley and actor Anthony Anderson. Individual player sponsorships cost $4,500 and a four-player sponsorship costs $16,000. Bike ride and fundraiser

The fourth annual Raleigh Police Memorial Foundation’s Five-O 50K and 100K Memorial Rides will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24, at Trek Raleigh, 10911 Raven Ridge Road. The 100K bicycle ride will begin at 7:30 a.m., followed by the 50K ride at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $35 in advance and $40 the day of the ride. 3K walk-a-thon in Raleigh

The Beauty Campaign will hold a 3K walkathon from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at Anderson Point Park, 20 Anderson Point Drive, Raleigh. The cost is $35 and includes a T-shirt. The Beauty Campaign is a nonprofit serving the needs of women and men who have suffered from abuse and addiction. Magnificent Mile Race

The eighth annual Magnificent Mile Race will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at 300 Hillsborough St., Raleigh. The event will feature competitive, recreational and kid’s races. Pickleball open play

Play pickleball from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday at Flaherty Park Community Center, 1226 N. White St., Raleigh. Pickleball is played on a badminton court with a lowered net, a perforated plastic baseball and wood paddles. It is easy to learn but can develop into a competitive game for experienced players.
