The Broughton High boys cross-country team placed second among team scores at last weekend’s 26th annual Seahawk Invitational at UNC-Wilmington.
The meet annually produces some of the top times in the state. More than 50 teams participated.
Broughton sophomore Jeremy Brown led the Caps with a third-place finish in 15 minutes, 59 seconds, for the 5,000-meter course. Junior Will Sandin finished eighth in 16:25. Apex won the boys’ team title.
Leesville Road’s boys, led by Carson Ellerby, placed sixth.

Leesville’s girls finished fifth, followed by Broughton in sixth place.
Soccer leaders: Sophomore Andrew Peterson of Raleigh Friendship leads the area boys’ soccer scoring. Peterson has 15 goals and 8 assists for 38 points.
Junior Sihoo Choi of Raleigh Christian is second in scoring with 14 goals and 2 assists for 30 points.
Raleigh Christian and Friendship are second and third in team scoring with 4.7 and 4.6 goals per game, respectively. Apex is first with 5.2 goals per game.
