Run for Hope

The 25th annual Thad and Alice Eure Walk for Hope and Run for Hope will be held at 7 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, beginning at Angus Barn, 9401 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh. Participants must raise a minimum of $60 for adults and $30 for children. Proceeds will benefit The Foundation of Hope for Research and Treatment of Mental Illness. Basketball clinic

Anthony “Airport” Greenup of the Harlem Globetrotters will teach a basketball clinic for youths ages 6-13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Brier Creek Community Center, 10810 Globe Road, Raleigh. Halloween Hustle

Oktoberfest 8K

The Oktoberfest Run Green 8K will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, starting at Moore Square, 200 S. Blount St., Raleigh. The event will also feature German giveaways and festivities. Triangle Run for Autism

The Triangle Run Walk for Autism will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, starting at Moore Square in downtown Raleigh. The event will feature a 5K race, a noncompetitive 5K run, a recreational 1K walk and a kid’s dash. A family-friendly festival will feature a fun zone, refreshments and vendors. Baseball coaches needed

The Wake Forest Parks and Recreation department seeks adults interested in volunteering as coaches in the Fall Baseball Coach Pitch League. Coaches will volunteer one night a week and for one hour on Saturdays.

Tennis coaches needed

Tennis coaches are needed for USTA Junior Team Tennis for the fall season.

Players at the 3.5 level will be trained as coaches. Teams are made up of kids ages 8 and younger or 10 and younger. Practices are held from 5-6:30 p.m. Fridays and 9-10:30 a.m. Saturdays.

The position pays $12 per hour and $8.25 per hour for training and administrative duties.

Furry 5K Run

The Furry 5K Run will be Saturday, Oct. 12, at WakeMed Soccer Park. It will include a timed 5K for runners only, a separate timed 5K for runners with dogs, and a 2K and 1K walk for humans and their dogs.

Pickleball open play

Play pickleball from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Friday at Flaherty Park Community Center, 1226 N. White St., Wake Forest.

Pickleball is played on a badminton court with a lowered net, a perforated plastic baseball and wood paddles. It is easy to learn but can develop into a competitive game for experienced players.

Running and fitness expo

The Running Outfitters Health and Fitness Expo will be held at the McKimmon Center of N.C. State University, 1101 Gorman St., Raleigh. The expo will run from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2. More than 30 exhibitors will offer apparel, shoes, equipment and accessories. City of Oaks Marathon

The sixth annual Raleigh City of Oaks Marathon begins at 7 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, at various locations in Raleigh. There are five races available, including a half marathon, The Old Reliable 10K, kids marathon and a marathon relay. Costs vary depending on race and registration date.
