Thad and Alice Eure Walk for Hope

The Foundation of Hope for Research and Treatment of Mental Illness presents the 24th annual Thad and Alice Eure Walk for Hope and the 4th Annual Run for Hope. The race will begin at 8 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, at the Angus Barn Restaurant in Raleigh. The walk will begin at 10 a.m. with registration at 8 a.m.

The Walk for Hope is a 10k/5k or 1 mile walk from the Angus Barn through Umstead State Park. The Run for Hope is a USA Track & Field certified 10k, or a 5k run which takes the same route as the walk from the Angus Barn through Umstead State Park and returns to the Barn. Run registration/chip pick-up opens at 7 a.m.

Adult baseball registration

Raleigh Parks and Recreation Adult Baseball registration is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, in the Administration Building at Jaycee Park, 2401 Wade Ave., Raleigh. To sign up, complete the registration form and make payment of $450 per team. Details: 919-831-6836.

Hemophilia Walk

The 2012 North Carolina Hemophilia Walk will take place Saturday, Oct. 20, at Lake Crabtree County Park, 1400 Aviation Parkway, Morrisville.

The 5K event is sponsored by Hemophilia of North Carolina and the National Hemophilia Foundation. Proceeds help support programs and services offered by the state organization.

The 10 a.m. walk has no registration cost, but donations are requested. Check-in is at 9 a.m. The event will also feature a costume contest for children ages 17-and-younger. Leashed dogs are welcome.

Color Me Rad

Color Me Rad will be held at 9 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion.

Furry 5K

The Furry 5K is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, at Fred G. Bond Metro Park in Cary.

The Furry 5K includes two 5K runs -- one for people only and one for people and their dogs. There will also be a 2K Dog Walk and a 1K Senior Dog Walk. Austin Flowers Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament

Wake Forest-Rolesville High School DECA will hold a golf tournament Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Heritage Golf Club,1250 Heritage Club Ave., Wake Forest. Proceeds will go to the Austin Flowers Memorial Scholarship Foundation. The scholarship was created in memory of a student who was killed in a car accident in June 2011.

Registration forms for interested players will be at Heritage Golf Club or can be received through email. Prizes will be awarded for the winners of the tournament and the event will include a silent auction. City of Oaks marathon

The Raleigh City of Oaks Marathon and Rex Healthcare Half Marathon is scheduled for 7 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 14. The course includes Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh, the State Capitol Building, the Glenwood South restaurant district, Meredith College, N.C. State University and the Bell Tower. The courses expose the diversity of Raleigh’s landscape, from modern city to wooded trails with a lakeside setting. Marathon runners will be treated to a run on the Capital Area Greenway system as well as around scenic Shelley Lake.
